SOURCE CODE

In her latest body of work, Source Code, Ayla revisits the elemental forces that have shaped her creativity from the start: the ocean and the body. Over the last three years, Ayla has drawn viewers ever closer into her increasingly more abstracted world. The human figure, once shown in its entirety, now emerges as painterly fragments; to her, it symbolizes what she calls “mining the subconscious.”
“I’ve discovered that the more I push away from the literal image, the closer I get to the essence of my muse,” she explains. “My work is finished when I no longer see myself in it—when it transcends me and becomes purely about Her.” This new work marks the first major piece of 2025 “Its a reminder of where it all began,” she says, “the perpetual motion of the waves and the ever-evolving capacity of the body. Those two elements are the foundation of all my art.”
Ayla makes no grand statements—rather, she leads us back to the reason we began looking in the first place: a nostalgic reflection on the journey so far and a bold stride toward what lies ahead. She summons us to the essential wellspring of creativity—Her Source Code.
